What if you don't want to race?

Updated: Jan 9

Coaching at Brownlee Fitness is all about getting race wins and podium places, right?

WRONG.

While we have a tonne of athletes who do love competing, and want to go out there and crush their competition, at the same time, a lot of our clients have no intention of competing.

And we love this.

Don’t get me wrong, a lot of people come on board not wanting to compete, and end up racing because they get the bug.

But some don’t.

Here’s what’s cool though -

Even if you never set foot on a start line in your life, we still consider you an athlete.

And we still program for our non-competing clients like they’re athletes.

In our mind, being an athlete isn’t just about putting on a race number and going “full send” on your chosen distance.

It’s about so much more than that.

It’s about getting your training done, when you really don’t want to.

It’s about being out there on those cold, wet, dark mornings and evenings when most “normal” people are snuggled up on the sofa.

It’s about thinking you’re totally done… And then pushing an extra 5%.

If you can do that, you’re an athlete.

So do me a favour?

Never think of yourself as less than, just because you choose not to compete.

We’re a family of athletes at Brownlee Fitness.

Some of us compete, some don’t.

But what we all have in common is a drive to succeed, a desire to better ourselves both in and out of the sport, and a willingness to support each other along the way.

If you’d like to be part of that, you have 2 options:

Whatever you decide, remember - you are an athlete. Don’t let anyone else tell you any different.
