Ali and Jonny Brownlee have signed a new deal with Swiss bike brand BMC, which will see them riding the brand’s bikes for the next three years.
Having officially moved on from Olympic-distance racing, Ali will be focussing on 70.3 and long-distance triathlon racing this season. Set to race largely on the BMC Timemachine 01 Disc, he’ll be setting his sights on the Ironman World Championship in KONA.
With confirmation of his place on Team England for the 2022 Commonwealth Games and Paris 2024 a long-term goal, Jonny Brownlee will continue to race Olympic-distance events, as well as Super League in 2022.
If his sixth place in Ironman 70.3 Cascais and his recent comments are anything to go by, he’ll also be looking to prove himself on the middle-distance stage in 2022. Like Ali, Jonny will be racing the BMC Timemachine Road 01. Speaking about the partnership, he said: “I like to be the best prepared athlete on the start line, and this involves using the best equipment.”
Writing about its aero bikes, the brand said: “With superior tube shaping, maximum component integration and an extensive rider positioning system, the Timemachine is tailor-made for triathletes.”
The brand is understandably thrilled to have the two Olympic gold medallists on their roster, saying: “BMC is proud to play a pivotal part on the world triathlon stage. Over the past decade, we have been able to celebrate major successes with our athletes and are looking forward to stepping up our commitment in the triathlon discipline while welcoming two absolute legends to the BMC family.”
Alongside the sponsorship of Ali and Jonny, the brand has also extended their title sponsorship and support of the BMC Pro Triathlon Team, powered by 2XU.
